Fulfilling its promise to fill time beautifully of aficionados around the world Davidoff proudly reveals the Limited Edition “Special 53 - Capa Dominicana.” A cigar only the Davidoff artisans could craft. . .

Basel, June, 2020. Davidoff pursues its mission to fill time beautifully by creating the best and most innovative experiences imaginable. The leading premium cigar maker reveals the limited edition "Special 53 – Capa Dominicana" in a unique 53-ring gauge Perfecto format crafted solely of tobaccos from the Dominican Republic. First achieved in 2002 when growing the refined wrapper leafs in the Dominican Republic was deemed impossible.

"It is the pioneering spirit of our founder Zino Davidoff that the craftsmen at Davidoff relentlessly seek to mirror in their daily achievements. When challenged with crafting a blend of 100% Dominican tobaccos back in the 1990's they set on a journey to identify suitable areas, cultivating soils and developing hybrid seeds that would yield tobaccos fit for the challenge. After nearly 20 years that journey found its completion in 2002 when our master blenders had turned these tobaccos into the beautiful and refined Special 53 – Capa Dominicana cigar," says Edward Simon, Chief Marketing Officer at Oettinger Davidoff AG. "It is this achievement, of leading the way to make the cultivation of wrapper tobaccos in the Dominican a reality that we celebrate today with the re-release of this limited edition. The 53-ring gauge Perfecto format was developed especially for said wrapper leaf to deliver its taste impact optimally," he continues.

Rewarded with the highest accolades from key industry publications for its original release, the Special 53 Capa Dominicana is sure to delight aficionados in 2020 as well. The cigar is released within Davidoff's Vintage Blend series of cigars.

A new vintage blend from Davidoff crafted with tobaccos aged for up to 10 years that delights in taste and refinement. A credential which discerning aficionados are sure to find in Davidoff's iconic Signature, Grand Cru, Aniversario and Millennium lines. The Capa Dominicana wrapper leaf which has been aged for over 10 years delivers a rich creaminess with some spices and showcases a beautiful oily, and rich brown colour. By adding a binder leaf aged over 8 years and Dominican filler tobaccos aged up to 6.5 years, Davidoff has opened its deep vault of tobaccos to unveil a true sensation of taste. The aging of tobaccos for up to 10 years results in a deep complexity, subtle richness and a sophisticated taste journey, making this cigar experience second to
none.

The cigars are presented in beautiful boxes of 10 Perfecto cigars, and boxes of five cigars available exclusively in Global Travel Retail featuring a natural wood design and an icon highlighting the vintage cigar’s blend. The 53-ring gauge Perfecto format was another first development by Davidoff conceived to pronounce the taste of the spectacular Dominican wrapper leaf while enjoying the cigar.
