celebrate the Chinese New Year, Davidoff takes inspiration from the
Chinese zodiac and presents an exclusive collection of unique and contemporary
Masterpieces celebrating
aficionados born in the year of the Tiger. The majestic Masterpiece humidor
«Year of the Tiger»
has been designed by the Chinese artist Qi Xie and hand decorated in delicate
marquetry by Rose Saneuil
in France, an outstanding collaboration between two unique artists.

Davidoff celebrates the «Year of the Tiger», with an exclusive and contemporary
Masterpiece, inviting aficionados
to indulge in an outstanding Davidoff cigar experience. Through remarkable and meticulous marquetry,
Rose Saneuil has brought to life Qi Xie‘s two magnificent tigers. The green
tiger roars and reveals
strength and ambition in his eyes, while the red tiger crawls through the
jungle, keenly observing and
ready to pounce. Qi Xie applied his unique creative techniques by representing
the two tigers with colors
that stand out and shapes that overlap and intertwine. The postures of the two
tigers offer room for imagination.
Qi
Xie is a Chinese artist who graduated from the Hubei Institute of Fine Arts. He
was a finalist of the iArt Youth
Project 2018, an international art project established by the Yuan Art Museum,
one of the well known museums
in Chongqing, China. Qi Xie rose to prominence with his unique and creative
application of
conceptual imageries in contemporary pop art culture. Reading his works can
neither be a one-way visual,
nor can the meaning of images be judged from a fixed perspective. "The
artwork «Year of the Tiger»,
is a multi-directional, multi-dimensional, superimposed and imaginary visual
representation," explains
Qi Xie.
“Made
of nearly thousand pieces, this outstanding Masterpiece is the most complex and
complicated piece
of art I have ever created,” Rose affirmed.
The
humidor contains 88 cigars that rest majestically on the cigar tray engraved
with the Tiger symbol. In Chinese
culture, the number 88 symbolizes fortune and good luck; the number eight
sounds similar to the word
for wealth in Mandarin or Cantonese, and is considered the luckiest number. The
shape of the Chinese
character for eight implies that a person will have a great, wide future as the
character starts narrow
and gets wider toward the bottom. An ideal gift to celebrate the Chinese New
Year.
The
unique Masterpiece humidor «Year of the Tiger» has been created for Davidoff by
the luxury craft company
Moevus in Virieu le Grand (France). The company possesses rare and unique
expertise in the mastery
of woodworking, marquetry and varnishing and is one of the prestigious labels
of "Entreprises du patrimoine
vivant" as well as "Atelier d'art de France."
